What Can a Full Wall Mural Painting Do For Your Home Improvement Decoration

Full wall mural, self explanatory, covers an entire outdoor or indoor wall. It is a decoration, usually painted by an artist - muralist and customized to match the client's taste and expectation. The meaning of the word "mural" depicts any artwork, painted on a large, permanent surface like a ceiling, window or a wall of the building - indoor or outdoor.

While the first murals date back to prehistoric times and have been done in many different styles and techniques from abstract to "trick the eye", today's full wall murals have become more easily available and affordable.

FLECK

It seems like the full wall murals are popular in celebrity nursing rooms, in kids' rooms and private bars, in cafes, restaurants and waiting rooms of the doctors' offices. They cover big or long empty walls, bring in an outdoor feel, and make every living space brighter - especially when depicting a view of the body of water, a meadow or a scenery.

Sometimes the full wall murals turn one's room into a fairy tale of "faerie" tale, an African plane with wildlife, a jungle, into a prehistoric time with dinosaurs or field of sunflowers, a sky with airplanes or birds and clouds, or calm sea with tranquil sales boats, sailing by at all times.

Only imagination is the limit to what image a single wall can be turned into. A dull, dark room can become bright and inviting with a motif, borrowed from mother nature.

Boring, uninviting spaces can turn into lively and homely with an image that makes one feeling good whenever glancing at the painting.

Even better, if there's something that makes you smile every time, that precise picture should be painted in your living space as a full wall mural, to cheer you up and make your heart sing.

Science of Sound

HOW SOUND TRAVELS: A sound is made when something vibrates and makes particles in the air next to it vibrate. The air particles pass the vibration from one to another. You can describe a sound by showing it on a graph. The shape is called a sound wave. Different sounds have different shaped sound waves. The number of times a sound wave vibrates each second is called frequency. A high note has a high frequency.

SOUND WAVES: The look of a sound wave varies according to what is making the sound. These sound waves are all produced by different instruments.

FLECK

ELECTRONIC INSTRUMENTS: A lot of bands use electronic instruments, such as drum machines and keyboards. These sorts of instruments use a computer chip to store and reproduce sound waves.

STORING SOUND: A chip doesn't store the sound itself: it stores numbers which describe a sound wave. The numbers indicate the height of the wave measured at regular intervals.

DRUM MACHINES: Drum machines are electronic devices that store pre-set sounds made by percussion instruments, such as cymbals, drums or maracas. You choose a sound and then play a rhythm by tapping on pads. You can also record a rhythm and play it back, so you can play another instrument alongside the rhythm. Rhythms can also be made faster or slower. Most drum machines have pre-set rhythms. These can be useful if you don't want to make up your own.

PLAYING WITH SOUNDS: A keyboard is designed to store the sound waves produced by musical instruments, but it can also reproduce other sounds, such as a bird tweeting. This is done using a machine called a sampler. Some keyboards have sampled sounds. Once the sound has been stored, you can play tunes with it. You can even alter the sound by reversing it or making it echo. You can have great fun experimenting with sounds which have been stored on a keyboard. Imagine playing Jingle Bells with a bell chiming for each note!

Green's the Thing For Hospital Clean

I ran across an interesting article the other day about home births, and how more and more women are opting to deliver at home rather than have their child the traditional way, in a hospital. Sure it had to with personal philosophy or family participation; I was surprised to discover that this wasn't the case at all. In fact, it had little to do with the facility itself, and more to do with the kinds of cleaning supplies and disinfectants the janitorial staff used to keep the place clean and sparkling.

flecktarn camo

It's estimated that 35% of older, more conventional cleaning products used to clean and disinfect hospitals and medical centers contain high levels of volatile organic compounds (VOCs). VOCs have been known to linger in the air and on surfaces, causing all kinds of problems like respiratory irritation, headaches, blindness, severe skin damage, and even hormonal system damage.

FLECK

A bit nervous about visiting your sick friend in the hospital? Me too. But read on, good news is on the horizon.

As we all know, going green is the thing, and even hospitals are getting on the bandwagon.

There are several reasons why hospitals are picking green as their favorite color these days, the most obvious being patient and employee health and safety.

By now, everyone knows that using and inhaling cleaning products can be hazardous to your health. Besides high levels of VOCs, cleaning products often contain carcinogens, asthmagens, and other toxic substances known to cause birth defects, kidney damage, nervous system damage, and other health-related problems. Hospital cleaning staff, working with a variety of traditional cleaning products, experience higher rates of occupational asthma: almost twice as much as in any other job.

Another practical reason hospitals are going green is cost. When compared to the price of conventional cleaners on a per-cleaning rather than a per-cost basis, green products are less expensive. Factoring in the cost of worker protection, product handling and disposal issues, once again green products just cost less. Also, one green cleaning solution used at different concentrations for multiple cleaning tasks can save closet space and help staff avoid confusion about what to use when; again reducing costs.

And finally, going green is not only good for the environment-no more leaking toxic chemicals into landfills and rivers-it's also good for the image. Hospitals are starting to entice staff, doctors, and patients to their facility with the promise of a green environment, and that includes non-toxic chemicals used in cleaning and disinfecting.

So the next time you're off for a social hour or (knock on wood!) a hospital stay, check for the Green Environment sticker on the door before you enter. If not, I hope you own a Hazmat environmental suit, or can hold your breath a really long time.

For a list of green cleaning products acceptable for use in hospital environments, check out Green Seal and Canada's Environmental Choice Program.

Of course, when we enter a hospital, we expect it to look shiny and smell clean. Unfortunately, most of this is just marketing.

Less Money, More Learning - The Effects of an Economic Downturn on Adult Education

By comparison, the US is far more vocal about any positive outcomes as a result of an economic crisis than the UK are. Over here of course, our focus on the bleakness may well be because there is nothing positive occurring, but this seems unlikely - especially when one considers the basic parallels evident between North America's problems and our own.

flecktarn parka

In Prince George, California, it has recently been reported by pgcitizen.co.uk that adult education is booming. With the economy getting weaker, enrollment numbers essentially are getting stronger. The Center for Learning Alternatives principal, Steve Fleck, stated, 'The challenges people are suffering as a result of the economic downturn are, we hope, turning into future opportunities through our learning centre. People who are underemployed now have realized the critical need to get their credentials in order so they are ready when the economic upswing comes along'.

FLECK

In the UK however, reports of this nature have not been heard. Instead, our news sources (which are incidentally often seen as of better quality by North Americans themselves) are very focused on the job losses, the lows of the 'high street', Woolworths, and the mess of the government, etc, etc. There is never any thought or discussion as to whether the credit crunch could have been a wake-up call for an entire generation.

Of course, in the US, the boom in adult education has caused a strain on services and institutions. In Salt Lake City 30 percent of funding has been taken from adult education funds, according to The Salt Lake Tribune. In the city alone, enrollments have increased by 28 percent on last year. Consequently, the decrease in money and influx in students is putting the local government and education coordinators in very difficult positions - i.e. whether to force inmates at Utah prison to pay back money for secondary education, in order to reimburse those law-abiding citizens seeking adult education.

In spite of the inherent problems with the situation, I believe the overall social shift for adults to be seeking further education is a very positive thing. This is not only because of the fact that these individuals will no doubt lead a full, more challenging, and rewarding life when the economy improves, but also because the success of the education sector at any level is nothing but a good thing - for the betterment of our children's future, and for society as a whole. And so if we are ignoring an adult education boom in the UK, it is about time we analysed and celebrated it - and if it is not yet here, I await its imminent arrival.

Sony PlayStation Phone

Could Sony Ericson Xperia Play be Sony's entry point in the mobile phone market? Even though it remains just a rumor at this point the Xperia Play has been gaining interest ever since its 1st public announcement by Engadget in late January.

fleck 5600

The phone boasts a 4 inch LCD multi touch screen and also a slide-out PlayStation gaming pad. It combines the Android operating system with the one of the PSP Go to allow for a remarkably touch-friendly user experience. A few of the smartphone's top features include its eight mega-pixel camera, three-dimensional SVG functionality, and Bravia technology for faster video playback. The Xperia Play features the usual search, home, back and menu buttons which we see on almost any Android smartphone. The actual gaming pad itself is setup very much like the PSP Go and has a pair of shoulder pads, the common D-pad to the left, and Sony's signature four-shape buttons on the right side. The Xperia Play additionally has two touch-pad joy sticks in the middle which mimic any traditional Sony PlayStation game controller.

FLECK

At this time little details have been published about the video game titles that will be available for purchase. Nonetheless, these are said to be available through apps you can download about the fifteen dollar price. Engadget tried out the device with a range of Ps One emulators that include Ridge Racer Revolution, Super Mario Bros. 4, Tony Hawks Pro Skater 4 and Gundam Battle Assault 4 and they described an exceptionally user-friendly gaming experience.

With no official announcement coming from Sony still many questions remain unanswered about possible mobile phone carriers and price. We can expect to see a special deal made with a leading service provider the same as the initial launch of the Apple iPhone. For right now, we only have got a small amount of instances to compare with.

The Sony PlayStation phone appears to be a pairing of Xperia's X10 phone plus Sony's PSP Go. Packed with Sony's modern technology the device appears to be a really strong addition to the Android OS family. My only major issue would be the life of the battery, an area where some Android mobile phones have been seen to suffer. Any gaming gadget would certainly need a somewhat potent battery which can be challenging to squeeze into the very small size of an Android cellphone.

Overall this Sony PlayStation phone is still an appealing idea with many questions yet to be cleared. Official word coming from Sony is anticipated in the near future however we should not expect to see the device on shelves before mid or late summertime. Despite the fact that this really is Sony Ericsson's very first Android OS phone this company has received plenty of experience building gadgets for the significant number of os's not to mention brands. It is easy to have belief that the particular phone could be put through an important stringent examining stage in advance of really being produced on the majority of folks. The product has already really been unveiled throughout a few other countriess for example India in which at this time there has not yet happen to be any specific major grumbles or even imperfections with the actual machine.

Simply put I will frequently be extremely curious about technological know-how ever since a really early age. One of the best units could be the Sony PlayStation Phone mainly because it really is breathtaking. Look at the Sony PlayStation phone review for more information.

The Miracle of Topical Vitamin C - Beautiful Skin Without Exfoliation

Function of the Stratum Corneum: The Skin's Natural Barrier

fleck 7000

The skin is composed of several layers, each of which serves a particular function. The topmost layer, called the stratum corneum, is actually composed of dead cells glued together with an oil our skin produces called sebum. Because this layer is the one exposed to the elements, it can easily become damaged, thinned, rough and discolored. The function of the stratum corneum is essentially to act as a barrier between the environment and deeper layers of our skin which are in fact alive. The environment contains such harmful things as chemicals, ultraviolet light, and bacteria. Thus the stratum corneum protects us from exposure to these noxious agents.

FLECK

Over the past 20-30 years, it has become popular to exfoliate and use abrasives on our skin to effect a smoother, more radiant complexion. Most of the time, if the skin is healthy, it can handle an occasional facial; however, more and more cosmetics and so-called wrinkle creams contain glycolic acids, retinols or abrasive substances. Daily use of these products leads to excessive removal of the stratum corneum and reduces its barrier function.

Problems With Exfoliation

Some of the more common problems associated with thinning of the stratum corneum include development of milia, age spots, perioral dermatitis and allergic eczema.

Milia are those small, hard, white granules just under the skin around your eyes, forehead or cheeks. They are frequently associated with the use of exfoliating chemicals, abrasives or astringents and they can resolve after several months when these products are discontinued.

Age spots are usually associated with excessive ultraviolet radiation exposure from the sun or tanning beds. Age spots, known as lentigo or seborrheic keratosis, are benign but can be found alongside malignant conditions of the skin called actinic keratosis. A visit to your dermatologist is the only way to be sure the age spot is a benign lesion. Age spots darken with further ultraviolet exposure and can lighten considerably if ultraviolet light is avoided with the use of a wide-brimmed had or long sleeves.

Perioral dermatitis is usually due to a superficial bacterial infection of the skin around the mouth, nose or eyes. This condition appears as small red pustules which can be itchy or painful. Bacteria more easily gain entry to the skin and set up an infection if the stratum corneum is thinned or breached. This condition usually requires treatment with antibiotics to effect a cure, however some people repeatedly suffer from bouts of perioral dermatitis. One aggravating factor may be the daily use of exfoliating chemicals or abrasives.

Allergic eczema is another condition caused by thinning of the stratum corneum. Environmental chemicals such as chlorine, detergents or other allergic sensitizers may gain entry to the deeper layers of the skin when the stratum corneum is not able to exclude these substances.

What if you didn't have to exfoliate to produce smoother skin?

In fact, topical Vitamin C produces a smooth complexion by normalizing the stratum corneum. Rather than exfoliating, the stratum corneum retains its normal thickness, but the skin's tone, texture and pore size are improved in just two weeks of daily use of topical Vitamin C. Even better results are seen with the combination of a Vitamin E cream.

Studies at Duke University demonstrated that topical Vitamins C and E protect skin cells from sunburn and tanning. Each vitamin alone protects the skin from ultraviolet radiation and there is a synergistic effect when the vitamins are combined.

Daily use of Vitamins C and E has also reduced the numbers of age spots and milia in some patients.

Finally, Vitamin C is an important cofactor in the synthesis of collagen. Topical Vitamin C speeds healing after burns and infections. More rapid wound healing and reduction in fine wrinkles may be related to Vitamin C 's ability to increase collagen synthesis.

Before you run out and buy the first Vitamin C product you find, realize that Vitamin C, when mixed in a solution or cream has a very short shelf life of only two months. Most Vitamin C is, in fact, mixed by the manufacturers; however in the process of shipping and storing, the shelf life is exceeded in many cases. Vitamin C turns yellow or brown after two months and it loses most of its effectiveness when it turns color. Sometimes, coloring or bleaching agents are added to Vitamin C creams so the yellow color is not apparent. To be sure you are getting the most effective Vitamin C product, be sure to buy a product that requires mixing after purchase. This way, you are probably getting the highest concentration of active vitamin for the entire two months of its shelf life.

Daily use of Vitamin C serum is recommended to improve the appearance of your complexion and to provide ultraviolet protection. Use of a hat and sun protective clothing is also important since the Vitamin C will lose effectiveness over time due to perspiration and free radical generation on your skin, so reapply it frequently.

Yoga Inversion Swing - Third Week Workout - Journal # 3

Hi, my name is Nancy Fleck and I a new owner of the Omni Yoga Inversion Swing System, including the tripod linked in stand, padded swing and trapeze. I have written two journals so far on my journey to getting relief from obesity and all the ailments that comes with it, back pain and in my case (curvature of the lower spine), arthritis pain and stress.

flecktarn

Last week I documented my starting body measurements. Below, I have written my new measurements for the week ending May 30, 2010. This is my personal journal of starting my exercise routine with my new Yoga Inversion Swing System and what exercises I have added this week that I have learned to do on my new Yoga Inversion Swing.

FLECK

There are many exercise machines that are good machines, but all of them are limited to what they can and will do for you. Since you can also invert on the Yoga Inversion Swing, I feel that you can get all your needs met with one machine. If you are using the inversion stand versus suspension from the ceiling, you are using space. But, if you are getting everything you need from one machine, you don't need all those other machines that are placed around the house taking up floor space. You won't mind the space your stand takes because it will be the last machine you will need to purchase and you won't need the other machines taking up space in your home.

Also, the possibilities are endless as to what exercises you can perform on the swing. You won't get a chance to get bored on the Yoga Inversion Swing. Also, the bounce you get from the trapeze device, will keep you coming back for more comfortable, enjoyable and relaxing sessions. You are suspended in air, gravity free, so there is no limit to how you can move. You will be able to move your body in a multitude of ways. I have found that the Yoga Inversion Swing System is a superior machine because it also does full back inversion. What other machine does that?

I have been doing three short sessions daily of power walking. I have now needed to add arm weights as the short distances three times a day started to get too easy. By doing this, I can still do the shorter distances, but since I have added 2 1/2 pound weights to my arms, it isn't easy anymore, so I can remain on the same distance, which is great if you are short on time.

Since starting the power walking I have lost a little over 11 pounds. I feel that I have finally gotten my metabolism working again. This, along with using the Yoga Inversion Swing for toning and shaping, I am on my way to becoming healthy and fit.

Also, one other thing I want to tell you about is that when I am on the Yoga Inversion Swing, I sweat a lot. I think it is because I am using a lot of muscles to keep myself steady to do the moves that I am doing on the swing. I believe this swing will help you to lose weight because your body is having to expend energy and move more muscles you wouldn't ordinarily have to use if you were on the floor performing the exercises.

Below I will list my current weight and measurements:

My weight as of May 23, 2010, and next to it, my weight as of May 30, 2010:
202.2 Lbs. 201.3 Lbs.

Neck - 15" 14 3/4"
Chest -48" 47 3/4"
Arms - 14" 14"
Wrist - 7" 6 1/2"
Waist - 42 1/2" 42"
Hips - 43 1/2" 43 1/2"
Thighs -20" 19 1/2"
Calves -16" 16"

I have a significant amount of weight to lose, at least 59 more pounds. I wrote a journal last week, Journal # 2, and told of the exercises I was doing starting out. I have added three more exercise to the list this week -

1) Standing in the circle of the Yoga Inversion Stand, I reach up and grab hold of the trapeze and hang from the bar. I feel a really good stretch in my arms and back. I also spread my legs apart and rest my weight on my legs and feel a very good stretch in the inner thigh.

2) I sit on the swing seat and bring the back of the swing under my arms. I then bend my back, like doing a back bend on the swing and grab hold of my ankles. This is similar to a Bow pose on the floor. This is very similar to that pose only you have the swing supporting your back.

3) I lay down on the floor on my stomach, reach up with both hands and grab hold of the lowest handle grips, arching my back and I bring my head up and back. This pose is something like the Cobra pose done on the floor, only when done on the floor, your arms are on the floor supporting your weight. With the Yoga Inversion Swing, you are hanging from your arms with your back arched and are also getting the stretch through your arms as well as your neck and back.

I know I have a long way to go, but I can see more positive results this week! That is why I am journaling my results, so you can benefit by seeing those results on a weekly basis. You can tell people you are losing weight, you can tell people that you are changing your shape, but I understand that I need to see and other people need to see this happening.

My husband has promised to take my picture on my Yoga Inversion Swing tomorrow night. As soon as it is done, I will post it and you will be able to see me enjoying my swing! You will also be able to see me getting smaller and more shapely as the time passes! I am 61 years old and up to now, have had a very sedentary lifestyle. Remember, if I can do it, you can too!!! What I have learned from getting out of shape and becoming obese is this, "exercise and good nutrition is necessary to living a long and healthy life." One without the other equals failure which equals being fat, sick and tired. But, we are not going to look back anymore, just forward to success!

I do hope this article has helped you in your journey to getting healthy and fit. Come back next week to read Journal # 4, Yoga Inversion Swing.
